Getting Started
How do I start?
When you first open Filterness, tap the + button to add your first filter. Choose a filter type (HVAC, Water Filter, Car Cabin, etc.), give it a name, and set the replacement interval.
Which filter type should I pick?
Pick the type that matches what you are tracking. Each type comes with a sensible default interval that you can adjust. If nothing fits, choose Custom and set your own name and interval.
Can I change a filter after adding it?
Yes. Tap any filter card in the list to edit its name, type, interval, or notes.
Using the App
How does the list work?
Filterness shows one sorted list. Filters closest to being due (or overdue) appear at the top. Each card shows how many days since the last change, and how many days remain until the next change is due. Overdue filters are highlighted in red.
How do I mark a filter as replaced?
Tap the Replaced button on the filter card. A confirmation dialog will ask if you are sure. Tap Yes, replaced to reset the timer to today.
What do the colours mean?
- Green — Filter is fresh, plenty of time remaining
- Yellow/Amber — Filter is approaching its due date (past 75% of the interval)
- Red — Filter is overdue
What does the progress bar show?
The bar fills from left to right as time passes. When it reaches the end, the filter is due for replacement.
Notifications
Does Filterness send reminders?
Yes. If you grant notification permission, Filterness schedules two reminders per filter:
- 3 days before the due date
- On the due date
Both fire at 9:00 AM local time.
How do I enable notifications?
Go to Settings and tap Reminders. If you previously denied permission, the app will guide you to your device settings.
Can I turn off notifications?
Yes. Disable notification permission for Filterness in your device settings, or toggle it from the app’s Settings screen.
Privacy & Data
Does this app collect my data?
No. Filterness collects absolutely no data. Everything is stored locally on your device.
Does this app need the internet?
No. Filterness works completely offline.
How do I delete my data?
Go to Settings and tap Delete all data. This permanently removes all filters and settings. Uninstalling the app also removes all data.
Troubleshooting
The app is not loading correctly
Try closing and reopening the app. If the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling (note: this will delete your data).
I purchased the app but it is not showing as purchased
Try closing and reopening the app. If the issue persists, check your App Store account to confirm the purchase, then try uninstalling and reinstalling.
Notifications are not arriving
Make sure notification permission is granted for Filterness in your device settings. Also check that Do Not Disturb or Focus mode is not blocking notifications.
